Description
In Honduras, MdM has worked with various UN agencies, including UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR and other donors from the Centralised and Decentralised Spanish Cooperation. In addition, MdM forms part of the humanitarian architecture present in the country, the Spanish NGO Coordination Committee, and has diverse and multidisciplinary teams. The volunteer will assist in raising the profile of MdM’s activities on the ground, will support field teams by taking photographs and videos of activities carried out by MdM, s/he will support in creating content for MdM’s social media channels in Honduras, as well as producing regular reports on the reach of MdM’s social media in Honduras and suggesting improvements and/or new guidelines to reach a wider audience, s/he will contribute to designing the layout of regular reports on MdM’s projects in Honduras, and will support field teams in designing promotional and educational materials for the projects in place.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteer headquarters will be in Tegucigalpa. The volunteer will be accommodated in one of the houses of MdM and will receive a monthly allowance to cover his/her food expenses of 700 €. Accommodation; return flights; visa and vaccination costs; health insurance; and basic equipment (laptop & mobile phone) will be provided and covered during deployment. Transportation and accommodation will also be provided and covered for all work-related travel. The volunteer will have access to specific workspaces, in accordance with the tasks assigned to them and under agreed, safe working conditions.
Training during the activity
The successful candidate, in addition to receiving the compulsory EU training, will attend a briefing on MdM and an induction to the role at the MdM office in Madrid and Tegucigalpa. This induction will include, alongside project-specific content, training on the minimum standards and guidelines for humanitarian action when assisting displaced populations and victims or those at risk of various forms of violence. This unique experience aims to provide the volunteer with learning opportunities on a continuous basis on several levels during deployment.
Participant profile
We expect the successful volunteer to have some knowledge in Communication, Graphic Design or related fields, materials relating to international cooperation, development and related areas; Ideally, the volunteer should have the ability to work as part of a team, have a good knowledge of Spanish is essential; English is desirable; Knowledge of the Latin American context, particularly Honduras and countries in the Mesoamerican region, is desirable; Knowledge of social media management; Skills in community engagement and emergency response are desirable. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
