Make Europe Real: Inspire Teens in a Rural French School

Maison de l'Europe Le Mans - Sarthe

MFR Bernay en Champagne

Bernay-Neuvy en champagne, France

Description

For 10 years, European volunteers have been shaking up daily life at our rural school — and now it's your turn! Your mission: bring Europe to life for our students, inside the classroom and beyond. Share your country and culture, invite fellow volunteers from across Europe into the school, and turn "abroad" from something scary into something exciting. You'll play a key role for our two final-year classes preparing for their 3-week Erasmus+ internship abroad: your own experience, stories and tips will help them leave with confidence — you'll even introduce them to the language and culture of their future host country. Day to day, you'll share our students' lives, building real bonds of trust through fun and educational activities created with the team. You won't just talk about mobility: you'll embody it.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You'll live in Le Mans, in a shared house with other ESC volunteers — everything provided, and a ready-made international crew to explore France with! The school lends you a car for your daily commute. On school days you can eat at the canteen; for other meals you'll receive food money.

Training during the activity

You'll start with an onboarding training with the Maison de l'Europe and your volunteer group, plus the official on-arrival and mid-term ESC seminars.

Participant profile

Your first mission will be simple but essential: find your place, with the team and with the students. You're open-minded, curious, and genuinely interested in what our students do — no need to know anything about agriculture or personal services, just bring real curiosity (our team are passionate people who love talking about their work!). Our students can be shy and reserved: you're the kind of person who takes the first step, sparks conversations and builds trust. You're also proactive: themed evenings, games, cultural activities — you make multiculturalism happen, your way. Last but not least, a driving licence is a must: the MFR sits in the countryside, 25 km from Le Mans with no public transport, so we'll lend you a car for the whole volunteering. You may also drive a 9-seater minibus or take students along for outings and professional visits.
