Description

This project promotes sustainable rural development through natural building, environmental restoration, and community engagement. Volunteers will take part in the renovation of the village former primary school into a guest house using woodworking, natural building, traditional stone construction, dry stone walling, and DIY techniques. They will also restore and maintain the historic hiking trail that connects Yamochori with the former primary school, following the route that generations of local children once walked every day. They will experience an alternative way of living by participating in everyday tasks and they will engaged in the local community. The project offers practical learning, intercultural exchange, and the opportunity to develop green skills while creating a lasting positive impact on the local community and environment.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Participants will stay in big bell tents with matresses. The place hase 6 wc and 4 showers, a washing machine, a common kitchen, there is Wifi Access everywhere and electricity in common spaces. The closest market is 4 km away, so grocery shopping requires planning. The village is very small and peaceful, far from city life. Transportation is arranged twice a week by car to Thermo, Kallithea, and Agrinio for access to shops and other facilities. This experience fosters self-sufficiency and community living in nature.

Training during the activity

Participants will learn through non-formal education, learning by doing, peer learning, and mentoring. Practical training will be provided in natural building, woodworking, dry stone construction, hiking trail restoration, and permaculture principles. Volunteers will also develop skills in teamwork, community living, sustainable practices, and project management through daily responsibilities and shared decision-making. Participant profile

We are looking for 17 motivated young people (18–30 years old) from Erasmus+ Programme Countries who are interested in sustainability, community living, and hands-on work. Participants should be open-minded, willing to learn, enjoy teamwork, and be ready to live in a rural environment. No previous experience is required—motivation and active participation are the most important qualities. Priority will be given to young people with fewer opportunities.
