All of Us: Individual Volunteering through Arts and Community

ESCOLÍADAS - Associação Recreativa Cultural

Pampilhosa, Portugal

Description

Join Escolíadas, a non-profit cultural and social organisation based in Mealhada, Portugal, for an individual volunteering experience connected to arts, education, youth participation and community work. This opportunity aims to involve 3 individual volunteers, 2 Portuguese and 1 international, promoting both local participation and intercultural learning. Volunteers will be integrated into the daily life of the organisation and will support artistic, educational and cultural activities with children and young people. Tasks may include supporting workshops, creative processes, cultural events, communication activities, preparation of materials, logistical support and participation in team meetings. This opportunity is ideal for young people interested in arts, culture, inclusion, education and social impact. No professional experience is required, only motivation to learn, collaborate, share ideas and take part in a practical non-formal learning experience.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation will be provided in Mealhada, in suitable conditions for long-term volunteering. Food support will be ensured through meals during activity days and support for groceries, allowing volunteers to cook when appropriate. Local transport between accommodation and activity venues will be organised by Escolíadas when needed. The organisation will also support travel preparation, arrival logistics and practical information before the start of the activity.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive preparation and ongoing support throughout the activity. Training will include introduction to Escolíadas, the project, rights and responsibilities, safety, intercultural learning, teamwork and non-formal education methods. Learning will happen mainly through practice, observation, mentoring, team work and regular reflection moments. Volunteers will also be supported in identifying their learning outcomes through Youthpass.

Participant profile

We are looking for open-minded young people, aged 18 to 30, who are interested in performing arts, education, youth work and community projects. Volunteers should be motivated to learn by doing and to support the daily work of Escolíadas. They will have the opportunity to follow and support secondary school students during the creation and production of artistic performances, involving theatre, music, dance, visual arts and other creative areas. Any kind of support during the process and the shows is welcome. Volunteers may help with artistic preparation, backstage support, logistics, materials, communication, group activities and practical tasks during events. This opportunity is suitable for young people who enjoy teamwork, are responsible, proactive and comfortable working with children and young people. No professional experience in the arts is required. What matters most is curiosity, motivation, flexibility and willingness to contribute. The project involves around 20 secondary schools, creating a strong learning environment connected to arts, education and youth participation.
