Description
Join Saint Joseph Catholic Secondary School in Pipriac, Brittany, and become part of a friendly educational community. During your volunteering experience, you will:
• Support the school library (CDI) through educational, cultural and creative activities.
• Promote sustainable development, environmental awareness and eco-friendly initiatives.
• Help organize activities tackling stereotypes, discrimination and bullying.
• Encourage European citizenship by sharing your culture and promoting mobility opportunities.
• Work alongside several teachers on projects related to their subjects and your own interests and skills.
• Participate in school trips, educational visits and special events throughout the year.
The school provides free lunches every school day and free local bus transport. You will be supported by a caring team and will have the opportunity to develop your own ideas while gaining valuable experience in education, youth work and intercultural learning.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Saint-Joseph is a small Catholic secondary school located in the rural village of Pipriac, in Brittany, just 30 minutes by bus from the town of Redon. The bus transportation will be paid for the volunteer between Redon and the school, as well as free lunch on school days. The volunteer will share a furnished flat with the ESC hosted in Redon, or with French people. Everyone has one's own single bedroom. Bathroom is shared with 2 people , and the 3 flatmates have to share the kitchen and the toilets. LA MAPAR will pay a food allocation of 8 €/day + 8 € for pocket money + train discount card
Training during the activity
Being part of a small rural school offers a friendly and supportive environment where the volunteer can easily build relationships with students and staff. The close-knit educational community allows for personalized guidance and meaningful involvement in school life. The volunteer will take French classes during all his project, 2 hours a week + 1 hour every week for collective mentoring. The French classes are given by a specialized teacher, together for all the volunteers at the same time. The teacher adapts his lessons to the level of each volunteer.
Participant profile
The volunteer should be interested in discovering the French school system pedagogy, and the school system in rural areas of France. We expect from the to be enthusiastic, with a strong sense of initiative and empathy, maturity to face a public of teenagers with less opportunities. Some basis of French would be appreciated.The candidate should be motivated to take part in team work with a public of teenagers (11-15 years old), including ones facing difficulties (handicap, learning difficulties).The ideal candidate will be autonomous and ready to question, ask and propose, and willing to learn how to lead groups.
A2-B1 level of French will be higly appreciated
