Permaculture, Gardening and Café - 2027/28
GEN-Deutschland - Netzwerk für Gemeinschaften e.V.
Projekt-Lebensbogen e.V.
Zierenberg, Germany
Description
You will be working 30 - 35 hours per week. The main work will be in kitchen of seminar house or café and houskeeping, helping with the running of our seminar house for up to 150 guests during an event and working in the organic café, which is a meeting place for hikers and local tourists as well as seminar guests and community members. It’s open only on saturday and sunday during summertime. On the other days, our honor-system kiosk is open. Some hours you will work in garden or park. If you have sufficient German language skills, you can also work in guest services. The exact area in which you will work depends on your language skills, your personal preference and the needs in our community. Two hours per week you take time for your personal project and one is for mentoring.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
We eat organic and mostly vegetarian and vegan food. When we eat together there is always a vegan option available. As a volunteer you have your own room with en-suite bathroom. You share the kitchen, living room, garden and other facilities with the community. And there is a music studio and a yoga and meditation space, that can be used by everyone.
Training during the activity
German classes will be provided as needed. Two mandatory trainings are organised by the German National Agency, an On-Arrival and Mid-Term training. You'll be able to to meet other volunteers from all over Germany.
You are free to choose your own project, using your creativity and skills. The project should have either a direct link to sustainability or a clear solidarity aspect (e.g. working with children or young people from the surrounding villages). It is a great opportunity to
try something unrelated to your work experience and to expand your individual skills.
Participant profile
We are looking for volunteers who are interested in sustainability and community living in a rural location. You're open to learn and meet new people as well as motivated to work in the community (permaculture, garden, park, seminar house, café). We're looking forward to hearing from you.
