Your main mission will be to raise awareness about Europe, cultural diversity, and European citizenship while sharing your own culture, language, traditions, and personal experiences.

During your volunteering project, you may:

  • Design and lead fun, educational, and creative workshops, games, and activities about Europe, your culture, your home country, and generally about European and world cultures.
  • Create educational materials, exhibitions, or learning tools that help children and young people discover Europe in an interactive and engaging way.
  • Take part in the organisation of events such as Europe Day celebrations, intercultural events, and other activities organised by Les Francas and their local partners.
  • Visit different leisure centers (after-school and holiday centers) and contribute to animation training courses by presenting your country, sharing your experience, and leading intercultural activities.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
  • You will be housed in an shared apartment as part of a “solidarity-based shared living arrangement.” In exchange for affordable housing, each resident is required to contribute to community life.
  • Regarding meals: We have a kitchen at the Francas offices where you can bring your own food. You will receive 8 euros in spending money and 8 euros for food each day, for a total of 16 euros per day. That comes to 480€ for a 30-day month.
  • You’ll be close to public transportation, making it easy to get to work and explore the city of Caen, the forest, and the coast.
Training during the activity

You will participate in the various mandatory training sessions required as part of the European Solidarity Corps, as well as internal training sessions on group facilitation and the “Jouer l'Europe” label.

Participant profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious, and open-minded young person who is motivated to take part in a meaningful intercultural experience.

No previous experience in youth work is required. However, we would especially appreciate someone who:

  • Is interested in working with children, teenagers, and young people.
  • Is willing to share their culture, language, traditions, and everyday life with others.
  • Enjoys teamwork while also being able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Is creative and motivated to design and lead educational or recreational activities.
  • Is open to discovering French culture and learning from a new environment.
  • Has good communication skills and is respectful of cultural differences.
  • Is flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn throughout the project.

A basic knowledge of English will facilitate communication within the team. Fluency in French is not required before arrival, but having a basic understanding of the language could be an asset in helping you integrate more quickly. Volunteers must be motivated to learn the language during their stay. French language support will be provided throughout the project.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and are committed to equal opportunities. Motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to engage with the local community are much more important than previous qualifications or professional experience.
