3. EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AND MIGRANT PEOPLE

Description

The project consists of supporting various activities developed by the social intervention area of EDE Foundation with migrant people and women.

·       Atzarri (volunteering activities for women). This group organizes leisure and free time activities for women who are victims of gender violence. 

·       ZERIZAN (gender-based violence). The tasks would be to take part and co-organize the cultural and leisure activities for the women who are under the scope of the service.

·       Emaktiva (training for unemployed women).  The tasks would involve providing training sessions on the use of new technologies in different groups or spaces.

·       Migrants/refugees women, families and youth. EDE has several projects for training, accommodation and employment to migrants / refugees in the geographical area of Biscay. The volun           teers will support and help the workers in the activities of social integration prepared for those who are beneficiaries of our services.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be accommodated in a hostel in a Co-living space for long-term rsidents, or a flat in a single room. The volunteers will have access to the kitchen, bathroom and common areas. The accommodation is in the city of Bilbao or in the metropolitan area. The place is connected by public transport to the center of the city (underground, train and bus).   Financial allowance of €200 per month for living expenses.

The volunteers will have a BARIK card that will be recharged monthly with the corresponding subscription and can be used for any transport within the city.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will have access to the EU ACADEMY online platform (they will be provided with a computer to connect to the platform) to learn the language.

As a complement to the online platform provided by the program, we will try to reinforce language learning with private classes from different resources (Adults School, Language School, Spanish classes for migrants, etc.).

Volunteers will be provided with all the necessary knowledge, materials, training and other resources as well as all the technical tools necessary for this task.

Participant profile
  • preferably over 22 years of age with a certain degree of autonomy
  • some experience of volunteering in their country of origin with other young people or with social groups.
  • Interest in the Social Sphere and Gender Violence
  • outgoing and take initiative because she/he will need to be able to speak to different audiences and in different spaces.
  • basic level of Spanish because the project needs that he/she masters the language to be able to communicate in the different activities
