GUARDIANS OF BIODIVERSITY
Udruga za održivi razvoj "POZITIVA SAMOBOR"
Samobor, Croatia
Description
"Guardians of Biodiversity" is an ESC Volunteering Team taking place in Samobor, Croatia, from 5 to 22.10.2026 (with the 5th and 22nd reserved for travel). 12 volunteers will live and work together at Greenville, a rural educational farm surrounded by forest, contributing to the creation of a permanent Greenville Forest Educational Trail dedicated to biodiversity protection and environmental learning for children and youth. Volunteers will maintain and improve forest trails, install educational signage, remove invasive vegetation, and help design hands-on workshops and guided walks for local schools and families. Accommodation, meals, travel costs, and pocket money are covered according to ESC rules. To apply, candidates must submit an application through the European Youth Portal and also complete Pozitiva Samobor's application form, available at https://forms.gle/y6spfEDzHFCjHmWr5. Only applications completed through both channels will be taken into account for selection.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Participants will be accommodated at Greenville, a rural house near Samobor, in shared 2-6 person bedrooms with shared bathrooms, surrounded by forest, a large yard, and a playground. Meals are provided by the organizer on arrival day and the first day; afterwards, volunteers receive a food allowance of 6 EUR per person per day and prepare meals together using the on-site kitchen. Travel expenses are reimbursed after the activity, following ESC rules, with green travel (bus, train, carpooling) encouraged. All travel plans must be pre-approved by the organizers.
Training during the activity
Not applicable.
Participant profile
We are looking for volunteers aged 18-30 who are motivated, reliable, and ready to fully commit to all project activities with enthusiasm. Candidates should be prepared for rural living and outdoor work, including cooking for themselves and sharing daily household tasks with the group. An open-minded, cooperative attitude is essential, as volunteers will live and work closely with participants from different countries and cultures. A basic level of English is required for effective communication. Health conditions or other obstacles should not discourage anyone from applying, but candidates are asked to inform the organizers in advance so that appropriate support can be arranged for a safe and inclusive experience for everyone.
