Asociación ÁGORA CULTURAL

Asociación Profesional y Familiar de Ayuda para la Integración del Discapacitado Psíquico ALBA

Description

We are looking for motivated volunteers from EU Programme Countries to join a meaningful volunteering experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference while developing valuable personal and professional skills.

Volunteers will work alongside experienced professionals and participate in a variety of activities, gaining practical experience while contributing to the users’ wellbeing, inclusion and personal development.

Main activities include:

  • Sports: supporting monitors during sports activities, training sessions and preparation.
  • Miscellanous workshops: assisting professionals and accompanying users during creative activities.
  • Occupational and therapeutic workshops: supporting the preparation and development of occupational sessions, relaxation activities and therapeutic physical exercises.
  • Outings: accompanying users and supporting monitors during organised trips and activities.
  • Mealtimes: helping prepare the dining area and providing support to users who require greater assistance.

Volunteers will be encouraged to take an active role, learn from professionals and build meaningful relationships with the users in a respectful and inclusive environment.

Please note that visa support is not available for this position.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will live in a spacious shared flat in Torrente, a town close to Valencia with all essential services for everyday life. The flat is fully equipped and includes Wi-Fi.

Volunteers receive a monthly allowance for food, personal hygiene and cleaning products, as well as pocket money.

Local transport between the accommodation and the project venue is covered, with travel by public transport.

International travel costs are covered according to the distance calculated using the official EU Distance Calculator.

Training during the activity

During the mobility, volunteers will take part in an on-arrival training and an evaluation session organised by the Spanish National Agency.

They will also receive training tailored to the specific thematic focus of the project.

Spanish language classes will be available throughout the entire mobility.

Through their participation, volunteers will develop valuable competences in organisational integration, social and intercultural skills, language learning and technical skills, while gaining meaningful practical experience.

Participant profile

No specific professional profile is required for this volunteering opportunity. We are looking for young people who are genuinely interested in working with and supporting people with intellectual disabilities, and who are willing to learn through practical experience.

We value candidates who are reliable, motivated, flexible, open-minded and respectful, with a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges and step outside their comfort zone. The experience can be especially interesting for young people who want to develop new skills, gain practical experience or explore new professional directions after completing their studies.

Previous experience working with people with intellectual disabilities is welcomed and valued, but it is not a mandatory requirement. Similarly, a basic level of Spanish is an advantage for communication with users and the team, but candidates without Spanish skills are also encouraged to apply.

Skills or interests in artistic and creative activities, crafts or sports are particularly welcome, as they can enrich the activities offered at the centre. However, these skills are not essential: motivation, empathy, commitment and willingness to participate and learn are the qualities we value most.
