Description
We are searching for 1 volunteer for our ESC project in the Kindergarten “am Storchennest". The volunteer will get familiar with the "on the move and health oriented" educational method of the Kindergarten by supporting pedagogues in their daily activities. Sport, movement and healthy lifestyle are the key words in the work at the Kindergarten. The volunteer will help the pedagogues with on the move exercises, will communicate with children and lead them to a more health-conscious lifestyle. Furthermore, the volunteer will have the opportunity to organize his/her own cultural or linguistic projects. The main project activities include: - Look after 1 to 5 year-old- kids - Plan and implement movement oriented offers (aged-based movement exercises/ sport activities) - Plan and implement thematic workshops (handicrafts, music, sustainability) - Organize events and/or excursions with the children - Plan intercultural activities (about his/her own country, language, culinary culture).
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
- Accommodation: The volunteer will live in one of our 4 accommodations for ESC volunteers in Potsdam. Each volunteer has his/her own room. All necessary living arrangements for the whole duration of the project are taken care of.
- Local Transport: A monthly travel card to use public transport within Germany (Deutschlandticket) will be made available to the volunteer. The volunteer will also receive a bike.
- A food allowance of 345,00 € will be provided monthly via bank transfer.
- A pocket money allowance of 217,00 € will be provided monthly via bank transfer.
Training during the activity
Our organization offers the volunteer the possibility to take part in language courses, reimbursed up to 250,00 €, according to their current German level.
The volunteer will have to participate in two mandatory seminars during his/her project: On-Arrival and Mid-Term Training. These are opportunities to meet volunteers from other countries, gain understanding of EU values and reflect on the ongoing project.
Our organisation regularly organizes thematic workshops on the priority topics of the ESC Program for our group of volunteers.
Participant profile
The organization expects the volunteer to: - be interested in work with children - be interested in sport oriented work in the kindergarten- be interested in the planning and implementation of sport orientated events and projects - be dedicated, committed and creative (e.g.: have interests and/or skills in music, sport and games, dance) - be on familiar terms with children - be aware of being the role model for the children - be sociable, friendly, patient and open-minded - be willing to learn new skills - be interested in the German culture and language and be willing to learn about other countries.
