ARENA in Gratkorn and AUSZEIT in Gleisdorf are open youth centres that provide safe and welcoming spaces for young people to meet, relax and spend their free time. ARENA has a youth café atmosphere and makes use of the nearby park, AUSZEIT has a particularly strong focus on youth social work and support. Both centres offer a variety of activities, including games, sports, cooking, creative workshops, events and excursions. Young people are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and actively participate in shaping activities at the centres. Experienced youth workers are available for conversations, confidential counselling and support with personal challenges. Volunteer is expected to support our daily work, organise activities like cooking, crafts, sports, playing soccer, help with homework, assisting with social media.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation is provided in a student dormitory in Graz, a single room in a shared flat. Local transportation to the youth centre (public transport ticket) is covered.
As a volunteer you receive food allowance 330 Euro/ month and pocket money 210 Euro/ month (according to ESC program guidelines). Travel costs are covered.
Training during the activity
As a volunteer, you will be welcomed as part of the team and supported in finding your role. You will have a mentor, join team meetings and supervision, and receive continuous support from the team. You will also take part in the On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Training provided by the Austrian National Agency. A German language course will be offered.
