Description
As an ESC volunteer in the “Spread the World” project, you will mainly support social media community management and communication activities aimed at promoting engagement, inclusion, and protection, particularly among refugee and migrant youth. Main objectives of the volunteering activities:
- Enhance community engagement of vulnerable groups through social media
- Support outreach to isolated populations, both online and offline
- Promote transparent communication on issues related to human rights and social inclusion
- Empower young migrants and refugees to design and implement workshops promoting participation, protection, and youth development
- Inform young refugees and migrants about European mobility, education, and development opportunities
- Support the inclusion of participants with fewer opportunities in mobility projects
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will be hosted in a rented apartment in Athens shared with other ESC volunteers. Each volunteer will have a private room.
The volunteer will receive:
- A food allowance of 6 EUR per day
- Pocket money of 7 EUR per day
Travel costs to and from Greece are covered up to a certain amount, depending on the travel distance.
Greek language support will be provided either by a Greek volunteer or through the Online Linguistic Support platform.
Insurance is covered by Henner.
Training during the activity
On-arrival training and mid-term evaluation will be organized by the Greek National Agency.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to:
- Develop organizational and communication skills
- Participate in the preparation and implementation of activities
- Strengthen initiative and responsibility
- Work in a highly multicultural environment
- Meet people from different cultural backgrounds
- Expand their social and professional networks
- Participate in seminars, trainings, and cultural activities organized by ELIX and partner organizations
Participant profile
We are looking for proactive and motivated people who are willing to contribute ideas and actively support the ELIX team.
Requirements:
- Availability for 9 months
- Willingness to work in the ELIX office together with volunteers and staff
- Good command of English
- Good computer skills (Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Canva, Business Suite)
- Interest in non-formal education, social inclusion, sustainability, and gender equality
Assets:
- Previous volunteering experience (especially in workcamps)
- Participation in international Youth Exchanges
- Understanding of non-formal and informal learning methodologies
