Seiml-Hof – Social Farming & Sustainability offers young people the opportunity to live, learn and contribute in a rural social farming environment in Bavaria, Germany. Volunteers become part of an international team and participate in meaningful daily activities combining farming, sustainability, community life and social inclusion.
Activities include caring for calves and cows, supporting milking activities, maintaining farm and living areas, helping in the kitchen, forestry and environmental activities, and supporting communication and social media. Volunteers will develop teamwork, responsibility, practical skills and intercultural competences while experiencing rural life in Germany.
No previous farming experience is required. Motivation, reliability, openness and willingness to learn are the most important qualities.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will receive accommodation at Seiml-Hof in shared living facilities with other participants. Food and basic living arrangements are provided throughout the project. Travel costs to and from the project are covered according to the European Solidarity Corps rules and applicable travel distance bands. Local transport support will be provided when necessary for project-related activities. Volunteers will also receive the applicable pocket money and other financial support provided by the ESC programme.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will receive an introduction to Seiml-Hof, the project activities, farm safety, daily routines and living arrangements. They will learn through practical, hands-on activities in farming, animal care, forestry, sustainability and social farming. Regular team meetings, reflection sessions and mentoring will support personal and professional development. Volunteers will also be encouraged to develop their Youthpass learning outcomes and key competences throughout the project.
Participant profile
We are looking for motivated young people aged 18–30 who are interested in social farming, sustainability, nature, rural life and intercultural exchange. No previous farming experience is required. Participants should be open-minded, responsible, reliable and willing to learn through practical activities and teamwork.
We welcome participants from different backgrounds and encourage people who are interested in developing practical, social and communication skills. A positive attitude, flexibility and respect for animals, nature and other team members are important.
Participants should be prepared for an active rural environment and be willing to contribute to daily farm, household and community activities. Basic English is helpful, but perfect language skills are not required.
