Olive Christmas Tree - ESC Team

ASSOCIAZIONE LINK APS

Altamura, Italy

Description

Olive Christmas Tree is a short-term ESC volunteering project blending environmental tradition and holiday community spirit. During the first phase, volunteers participate directly in local olive harvesting, learning about Puglia's oil production. In the second phase, they join expert-led workshops to master creative crafting techniques. Using these new skills, volunteers will design and make handmade decorations to transform the "Agorateca" community space into an inclusive, welcoming Christmas atmosphere

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be lodged in a large apartment, in double or triple rooms, with three bathrooms, located next to train station of Altamura. The volunteer group has to organize shopping and cooking in collaboration, using the funding given by the project. Participants will receive food money and pocket money on their bank account. Link will support participants in finding the best itinerary based on their home city, following ESC general rules. Travel expenses are covered by the European budget. More detailed information are retrievable in the Infopack.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will work as a team, learn from each other, and share the values of empathy, cooperation, and creativity. They will also be trained on key technical tasks (use of equipment, etc.) and the main safety and prevention regulations.  The activities will be led by experienced youth workers who will provide task related training sessions.

Participant profile

Young people aged 18–30 who are interested, on one side in learning about local traditions and doing hands-on activities in the nature (harvesting olives), learning about olive oil production and biological farming, and on the other side like to share their own traditions especially connected to Christmas period, organizing cultural and social activities with people with special needs..
