European Solidarity Corps

The power of together

Move on! Sport as a common language

Stadtjugendring Stuttgart e.V.

Stuttgart, Germany

Description

Stadtjugendring Stuttgart coordinates the volunteering placement at SportKultur Stuttgart e.V., one of Stuttgart’s largest multi-sport clubs. The club promotes sports, physical activity, and community engagement for people of all ages. As a volunteer, you’ll gain insight into the day-to-day running of a sports club and support its mission to get people of all ages moving through health-promoting, social, and inclusive sports activities.
What you’ll do:

  • Support training sessions and sports activities, especially for children and young people.
  • Assist with holiday programmes and sports camps for kids.
  • Support club administration and create social media content.
  • Contribute to organising events and inclusive sports projects.
  • Promote European Solidarity Corps (ESC) mobility opportunities.
  • Bring your own ideas to life through a small, self-organised project.

Curious how a sports club works from the inside? Please apply via the application form at: https://www.sjr-stuttgart.de/hosting/
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Stuttgart is a multicultural city of around 600,000 people, offering a wide range of leisure activities and cultural events.

You’ll live in a 77 m² flat in Stuttgart-West, shared with another ESC volunteer. The flat has two single bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, two balconies and a bathroom with a washing machine. Free Wi-Fi is included. The city centre is just 10 minutes away, and your workplace is around 30 minutes away by public transport.

We provide a monthly food allowance, pocket money and a transport pass for public transport throughout Germany.

Training during the activity

We will ensure your participation in the On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Meeting, organised by the German National Agency. You can also take part in local sports training and workshops that match your interests. We provide an intensive German language course lasting 2-3 months. Mentorship sessions throughout the whole volunteering project are guaranteed.

Participant profile

We’re looking for an open-minded, reliable and flexible team player who loves sport and bringing people together. You enjoy working with children and young people and supporting their development. We’d love you to bring your own interests and talents, share your ideas and get involved! To connect with the children and everyone at ESK, you’ll need a good level of English (at least B1) and basic German skills (at least A2). You don’t need to speak German perfectly! We believe there are many ways to communicate and connect with others.
