International youth work through sports

Activity description

The ''Brandenburgische Sportjugend'' (Sports Youth Brandenburg) is an independent working youth organisation in the ''Sports Federation Brandenburg''. Its members are children and teenagers, as well as, their youth representatives who are organized in more than 2.500 sport-clubs. It counts more than 137 thousand members under the age of 27. It is the largest youth association in the state of Brandenburg. The project foresees to host 1 volunteer in the Organization´s Department of International Cooperation for 12 months. The Department imparts knowledge about planning, organization, implementation, finance and evaluation of international activities. Main tasks of the volunteer are to support the co-workers of the Department, get acquainted with sport structures and EU programs and funding in international youth work; support the planning, preparation and organization of international projects; look after young people from abroad and international guests.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation: The volunteer will live in one of our 5 ESC volunteer accommodations in Potsdam. Each volunteer has his/her own room in a well-furnished and fully equipped flat. Food: A monthly food allowance of 288,00 € will be provided via bank transfer. Pocket money: 180,00 € will be provided via bank transfer. Local Transport: The volunteer will be provided with a monthly ticket for the use of public transport in the area of the federal states of Brandenburg/Berlin. The volunteer will also receive a bike.

Training during the activity

Our organization offers the volunteer the possibility to take part in a language course, according to their current level of German. All participants must take part in two mandatory seminars during their project: On-Arrival and Mid-Term Training. These are opportunities to meet volunteers from other countries, to understand the EU values and to reflect on the ongoing project. The organisation expects the volunteer to be: - interested in international social youth work; - interested in sport orientated youth work; - interested in the conception and implementation of locally and internationally oriented sporting events and projects; - interested to work with children and young people; - dedicated, commitmed and creative; - interested to gain knowledge about EU policy and the funding opportunities provided by EU programs in general; - sociable, patient and open-minded.
