Activity description

We are seeking a volunteer to work in the learning unit called Lamppu. Lamppu is a learning unit aimed at young intellectually disabled adults for practicing everyday skills and supporting its students in ultimately becoming more independent and active members of society. Lamppu provides a wide range of subjects for its students, including Finnish language (reading and writing), using money, learning to tell the time, physical education and a variety of creative activities (creative dance, drama, arts and crafts). Lamppu emphasizes experiential learning in real-life situations in addition to more conventional, classroom based teaching. In Lamppu volunteers support young people in studying and performing tasks, serving food, organizing activities, listening to music and outdoor activities.
