Europäischer Freiwilligendienst im ZFP in Ostbelgien

Zentrum für Förderpädagogik

Eupen, Belgium

Activity description

Overall we can recieve 7 volunteers via the ESC: One placement is situated in a homework school in EUPEN (working with children with migration background) and the other four are situated in the ZFP primary schools in ST. VITH, BÜTGENBACH and in the ZFP primary school EUPEN (working with children with a disabilities). The last ones are in our ZFP secondary school and boarding school (working with youngsters with disabilities). St. Vith is located in a rural area, close to Luxembourg, Eupen is rather a small town close to Germany and the Netherlands. We are situated in East Belgium, in the middle of Europe. The diversity of languages and cultures has always had an positiv impact on the rich cultural life in East Belgium. People are mostly bilingual (German-French). Very good knowledge of the German language is a must! We don't want to impose another barrier to our public.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The ZFP provides suitable accomodation: two Go-Passes (with the Go-Pass you can travel by train anywhere you want in Belgium. You have 10 journeys) and a bus-subscription valid for a year (with the subscription you can ride in the whole french-speaking part of Belgium). The bus-subscription covers also the local transport in Eupen and surroundings. We also provide them with bicycles to explore the surrounding area. The centre also provides meals or a food allowance, covering even the holiday period. The volunteer gets the due allowance on a monthly basis.

The ZFP ensures the participation of the volunteers in the on-arrial training (during september) and mid-term evaluation (during january) organised by the NA or SALTO.
