Empower individuals at Day center of social care

Activity description

The center was founded in order to help to fulfill the needs of children with disabilities and their families. The recipients of our services are children from 7 to 18 years old with mental disabilities, physical and complex disabilities, psychological development disorders (except for mental health problems) and their families. During the day children with disability are assisted by employees: doing sport, simple art works and daily duties together, learning new things. Our aim is to focus on enriching the children’s lives, building upon their skills, knowledge, emotions and unique abilities and strengths. Main tasks: The communication with children based on working together; Assistance with outdoor activities; Assistance with the daily routine (e.g. taking care of children who have movement disability, assistance with getting ready for going outside, etc.); Bringing and implement new ideas in our center;

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation in a private room in a shared apartment - Monthly ticket for public transportation - Monthly food and pocket money (220 eur/month)

Training during the activity

Volunteering group meetings once a month - Meeting with a mentor once a month - On-arrival and mid-term trainings - Online language learning - Participating in public solidarity events - Organization of info/promo solidarity events

Participant profile

- To be empathetic for people with disabilities; - to be ready to be creative and well-organized in making activities for children with disabilities; - to understand that whatever activity is being done, the most important thing is to do it with (not instead of!) the person; - to be open-minded to make a new things in life; - not to be afraid to be childish, do sometimes stupid things but at the same time to become role model for kids; - to be open to create a personal bonds and friendship with him/her; - be flexible for dealing different daily situation.. "
