Activity description

Volunteer activities can take place in two different sections of our services – in “Essen dahoam” – meals on wheels and the "MGH" - multi-generation house. At "Essen dahoam" we take care of the delivery of delicious meals to people, who are no longer able to take care of themselves at home. Our partner kitchens cook freshly every day. Our drivers bring the booked meals ready to eat at lunchtime customers - 365 days a year, including Sundays and public holidays! Our customers receive the current meal plans from us every week and can decide in peace at home. What do we do? -Entering the orders for "Essen dahoam" -Preparation of route planning for food deliveries -Processing of accounts for "Essen dahoam" -Taking on new customers -Cooperation and consultation with the cooperating kitchens and much more The "MGH" - multi-generation house follows a cross-generational approach which gives the MGH Pfaffenhofen its name and

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

- food (allowance) and accommodation in a boarding house for free. - financial support for travel expenses to and from the hosting country - 5 € pocket money per day. - complementary insurance for volunteers via CIGNA - help with local transportation The working conditions are: - 30-38 ours per week including language course - two days off per week - two days of vacation per month

Training during the activity

-You will be part of a team. -A supervisor will help you to implement your volunteer assignments. The youth pass will be used to monitor your learning experience. There will be at least three meetings with the supervisor during your volunteership (at the beginning, in the middle and at the end). -You will get accees to a weekly German language training opportunity. -You will attend two seminars of the German national agency somewhere in Germany. -You will get the chance to contact other volunteers. -You will get introduced to other parts of Caritas Munich.

Participant profile

You should... - be open minded to people of different cultures - be interested in the German way of life, structures and contextes - love to communicate with people - like to help people in need and work with them directly - be able to speak, read and write in English (at least B1); preferable you have German language skills too, any other language skills are beneficial
