Activity description
The Library of Things of Geltoki is a project which loans out items to members of its local community, promoting a sharing economy. These items can be anything and generally include DIY tools, garden machinery, kitchen appliances, camping gear, event equipment and generally useful household items GELTOKI is a not-for-profit, co-operative cultural centre for responsible consumption. The centre’s purpose is to promote initiatives aligned with the solidarity economy, food sovereignty and alternative culture movements, aimed at raising awareness around the need for social and economic change that will lead to a fairer relationship with people and the planet. Because of this, many local social entities and organisations, who share these same objectives, are part of the project.Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Travel expenses, accommodation, food and transportation are paid and managed by the receiving entity (Geltoki)Training during the activity
The project offers the possibility to obtain different types of learnings: - Knowledge in foreign language (spanish) - Digital and analogic competences - Interpersonal, intercultural and social and civic competences - OthersParticipant profile
The volunteer must have good communication skills with other people. He/she must have personal initiative since he/she will actively participate, together with other people, in the implementation of the Library of Things project. The ability to perform and learn how to perform small repair tasks on things that will be loaned to the Library of Things will be especially valued. No specific training is required, but a willingness to work is a must.Activity dates
