Activity description

Przystań Śmidowicza 49 is a part of the network of Neighbourhood Centres in Gdynia – spaces for the local inhabitants where they can invent and implement their ideas, exchange passions with others and integrate. These are places of developing ideas, broadening interests, establishing new friendships, tightening bonds and intergenerational integration. Anyone willing can lead classes, take part in meetings organized by neighbours or simply drop by for coffee or tea. Przystań is a place fuelled with the creativity and commitment of the residents - that is why in the neighbourhood centres, among others, are organized: sports activities, tailoring, culinary activities, meetings with travellers, neighbourhood parents' clubs chats, and even board games or karaoke tournaments. We take care of a friendly atmosphere and a welcoming attitude towards neighbourly integration. Everyone is welcome here and we all treat each other with respect.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteer will be provided with monthly Pocket money and tickets for buses in Gdynia to go to work. Volunteer will share a room with 2-3 other volunteers in a rented flat. Gdynia ESC volunteers live in a few flats in different districts of the city and work in more than 10 different locations (libraries, NGOs, neighbourhood centres etc). Together with their mentors (local volunteers) they create a large, international and lively community of around 35 young people.

Training during the activity

Volunteer is obliged to participate in training provided by National Agency (On-arrival training and Mid-term training) as well as trainings run and and organized by supporting organization.

Participant profile

We search for a volunteer who is empathetic, ready to act, open for a new experience and for the people in different ages, ready to learn and to grow. We are open for young people ready to share their passions and interests with others. Additional advantage would be an experience in work with or for the local society, teamwork skills and time management.
