Activity description

From 5-18 of June, we're looking for 14 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 to join us in a project focused on sustainability, natural building, and permaculture. Working alongside experts from the Greek organization Cob.gr, you'll help create an eco-building in the forest that teaches about living in nature, outdoor and experiential learning, and sustainable practices. You'll have the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse yourself in nature, while camping and living in a community. In this project Roots & Roofs, you'll work together and learn how to build the foundations for future construction activities by digging and leveling the soil, shaping and peeling the wood, transporting materials and by starting to construct the eco-buildings. This project is based on the work done in Roots and roofs, a project that happens in May 2023. Please mind that travel days will be 4th and 19th of June; for green travel there can be more than 1 travel day.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Very wild-style. We will stay in a tent camp in the forest in Tramonti. Nearby facilities will be available for cooking, will include 2 toilets and 1 shower inside and 1-2 showers outside. Food will be provided. 30min to the next food store, 50min to the center of Tramonti. For travel, green travel is possible! Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the ESC guidelines. Travel budget can be slightly higher than for conventional travel (according to the ESC guide). Please contact us about this option.

Training during the activity

Participants will be introduced and guided through all activities. You will learn practical skills on how to build the foundations for building an eco-building. Learning outcomes include understanding of sustainable living and permaculture principles, teamwork and community life in an outdoof camp, and resilience.

Participant profile

If you are enthusiastic about this type of experience, prepared to camp and embrace community living, and not intimidated by living away from urban areas, we encourage you to apply without hesitation! Previous eperience is helpful but not necessary. You will need to be available for the exact activity period.
