Activity description

Stadtteilzentrum Lend and Nachbarschaftszentrum NaNet Floßlend are two community centers in the district Lend in Graz. They offer the residents a space for information, social counseling, and community. The aims are to offer a welcoming and engaging neighborhood, set up social networks in the community, provide advice in various psycho-social challenges and foster civic engagement. Different activities are organized in order to share and develop ideas, motivate neighbors to follow a healthier lifestyle or promote sustainability, f.e., by taking part in a food sharing network and running campaigns against food waste, maintaining a community garden or promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The volunteer will assist the team in organizing and executing community events, get in touch, communicate and collaborate with people from different backgrounds and of different generations and take actions in sustainability and food sharing networks in order to reduce food waste.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

JUKUS will provide the volunteer with a room at a student's dormitory. There is the opportunity either to use a provided bicycle to reach the organization or to use public transportation (ticket provided). The locations are reachable by bus or tram. Food allowance is €250/month, pocket money €180/month.

Training during the activity

The Volunteer will be provided at least with an On Arrival Training and a Mid Term Training, organized by the Austrian National Agency. The volunteer will have the possibility to attend a German course.
