Activity description

General upkeep of the animal sanctuary - cleaning dog rooms, feeding & exercising dogs, changing bedding, washing bowls, Dog supervision & any necessary support, Assisting staff with medicating animals and vet runs., Assisting with the rehabilitation of animals as well as their rehoming., Brainstorming & organising fundraising activities and managing projects, implementing events done to raise awareness, educate and encourage adoption from animal sanctuaries.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will have a private bedroom with access to a bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen to enable them to cook their meals. MCVS will be collaborating with participants every month in order to ensure that groceries are available and that they have a diverse range of food. MCVS will ensure that public transportation is accessible and in the proximity of the lodging area as well as the activity locations. MCVS will also provide the participants with pocket money and give them all the practical information when it comes to living in Malta.

Training during the activity

MCVS will create an official training programme to the volunteers to give them the opportunity to develop their skills and learn more throughout their experience. They will be invited to participate in self-development workshops which will be led by experienced youth workers employed by MCVS. Qualified mentors will be assigned to each of the volunteers to follow their progression. MCVS will also organise one-to-one and group evaluation sessions with the participants + with the hosting locations. We will provide volunteers with an emergency contact 24/7 in order to ensure their safety.

Participant profile

We are looking for volunteers who love animals and who are capable of working in a team with a positive attitude. Volunteers are required to be able to communicate in English and wake up early.
