Activity description

From 29 April to 14 May, we're looking for 14 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 to join us in a project focused on sustainability and natural building. Working alongside experts from the Greek organization Cob.gr, you'll help finalize an eco-building in the forest that teaches about living in nature, outdoor and experiential learning, and sustainable practices. You'll have the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and immerse yourself in nature, while camping and living in a community. In this project, you will support the organisation of a natural building workshop open to international participants and you'll work together and learn how to build with natural materials and help finalize a hobbit house, a tree house and a kitchen. This project is based on the work done in previous Roots and roofs projects that happened in 2023. Please mind that travel days will be 29th April and 14th of May; for green travel there can be more than 1 travel day.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Very wild-style. We will stay in a tent camp in the forest in Tramonti. Nearby facilities will be available for cooking, will include 2 toilets and 1 shower inside and 1-2 showers outside. Food will be provided. 30min to the next food store, 50min to the center of Tramonti. For travel, green travel is possible! Travel costs will be reimbursed according to the ESC guidelines. Travel budget can be slightly higher than for conventional travel (according to the ESC guide). Please contact us about this option.

Training during the activity

Participants will be introduced and guided through all activities. You will learn practical skills on natural building technique. Learning outcomes include understanding of sustainable living and permaculture principles, teamwork and community life in an outdoof camp, and resilience.

Participant profile

If you are enthusiastic about this type of experience, prepared to camp and embrace community living, and not intimidated by living away from urban areas, we encourage you to apply without hesitation! Previous experience is helpful but not necessary. You will need to be available for the exact activity period.
