Description

The project is located in the heart of Suisse-Normande, a popular region for nature sports enthusiasts (kayak, bike, horse riding, paragliding, etc.). The mission is presented as an awareness of the discovery and challenges of Europe. It revolves around three towns: Clécy, Cesny-les-Sources, and Thury-Harcourt. Several partners gravitate around this project such as: twinning committees, elementary schools, middle school Europe Clubs, youth /children structures for collective animation, tourist office, and retirement home. A Europe Day is planned at the end of the school year. This public event will include a number of workshops and events over a week. It will be an opportunity to highlight the project and the actions that the volunteer will have carried out with different audiences throughout the year. During the summer, we will host the youth center of Grossostheim (Ger) on the territory. The volunteer will participate in the organization and will be able to co-host this meeting.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Thury Harcourt (30km from Caen) the central location of the mission: 3650 inhabitants, shops, a cinema, an aquatic center and a nautical base. The volunteer activity will be based mainly in the youth area or at the tourist office (same street) + workshops in the partner structures. Apartment in the city center above the youth area (independent access) containing two bedrooms. Trips scheduled regularly between the 3 partner municipalities: bicycle provided,carpooling facilitated. Catering at lunchtime at the places of activity (schools, youth area) or packed lunch according to preference.

Training during the activity

Youth and social work, event organization, creation of pedagogical contents, communication, speaking in public. Possibility of following thematic days, or meetings of professionals. Upgrading to Civic First Aid Level 1 training may be considered. The certificate of aptitude for the functions of animator could be envisaged for the young person, ensuring additional learning and national recognition of his ability and investment in the supervision and animation of groups.

Participant profile

To feel comfortable in the project, we recommend candidates to be: - sociable, comfortable with a wide variety of audiences - interested in European issues - interested in pedagogy, social work - ready to live in the countryside - adjustable - driving license holder and have somme knowledge in French.
