Activity description

Dog therapy is a form of activity aimed at people with physical and mental disabilities and those suffering from other dysfunctions and illnesses. With the assistance of volunteering dogs and their owners, we work mainly with disabled children (e.g. with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy etc.). We also provide specialist training for dogs and for people in regard to dog therapy, as well as a dog obedience school, educational activities for children of different age groups, teaching the correct and safe behavior with dogs and respect for animals. All the activities take place in schools, kindergartens, homes for children, hospitals and other special institutions, as well as at the Dogtor Foundation’s headquarters in Gdynia. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteer will be provided with pocket money, monthly bus ticket and accommodation in a 2-3 persons room in a rented flat.

Training during the activity

Volunteer is obliged to participate in two trainings organized by National Agency (On-arrival Training and Mid-term Training) as well as in the trainings provided and run by supporting organization.

Participant profile

Volunteer takes part in the whole organization’s life including assisting in dog therapy activities, taking care of the materials, assisting/ running educational activites about dogs, preparation of the scripts for workshops, preparation and dissemination of informational and promotional materials (photos/videos /making graphics). We welcome applicants with a friendly attitude toward animals, who like working with children and disabled people, full of creativity, honesty, and openness. Great communication skills are a must.S/he should be open for different and new people and like work in group
