Hands On 4 (E)U

European Youth Education Centre

Magdeburg, Germany

The application deadline has passed.

Activity description

We are looking for hands on young people to help us improve our educational youth center. While there will be some hands-on activities that involve light physical labour, there will be plenty of opportunity to be creative in your own projects. For example, you can come up with an activity that we can offer to groups staying with us can do (Action Bound, Escape Room etc.). For those interested in working with groups directly and getting insights into organising and implementing international project there will be the possibility to be involved in a training course. As we do ten youth exchanges and training courses every year, there will be plenty of opportunity to learn about project management and about implementing such projects.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms with generally four people (towels and sheets are provided) at the European Youth Educational Centre Magdeburg. Since our facilities can also be booked by outside groups, the living arrangements can be subject to change due to bookings by outside groups. The volunteers will receive money to prepare meals with the group (unless meals are provided by the organisation) as well as 6€ pocket money per day. Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to fixed rates according to the distance traveled as per the regulations laid down in Erasmus+ program

Training during the activity

Handicraft work will be professionally guided, if necessary. Furthermore, pedagogically supervised opportunities for international exchange, networking and team building are offered. Concerning the campaign for “Discover-EU inclusion”, participants will have the possibility to benefit from the expertise and experience of the pedagogical team as well.

Participant profile

We are looking for enthusiastic young people who are eager to live and work in a team of 15-20 people from different countries. If you have experience with one of the tasks mentioned before - that's great. But it is even more important that you are willing to learn and try new things. Further, it is preferable if you are open-minded, flexible, have a problem- solving attitude, and can work well in teams. Knowledge of English and German is an asset.
