Activity description

Youth art cooperation (ArtCoop) is a Humanitarian Aid ESC project that involves a total of 9 young people from European countries developing socio-educational & artistic activities addressed to local communities in Chile and supporting TECHO Internacional (hosting organisation) in the planning, development of community activities and strategies of communication. For 180 days volunteers will support the international, communication & education areas of TECHO Internacional, and they will carry out community development activities at the different slums and marginalized areas where it works around Chile. The aims will be achieved by supporting TECHO on its own socio-educational, artistic & dissemination projects with youth, throughout which youth mental health is addressed. Volunteers will design and develop an artistic project to will carry out during the whole project. By the end of the project, they'll have also designed and carried out awareness activities in Chile and own countries.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The project includes accommodation, food and transport for the volunteers. Volunteers will be accommodated on TECHO installations prepared for youth volunteers that works with the entity. This accommodation, as well as transportation and food are covered by ESC Humanitarian Aid fundings and the contribution of sending organisation. Volunteers will stay on the same location during all volunteering period; from the first day of their volunteer they will have accommodation prepared. Visa is also included for the time of volunteering.

Training during the activity

Participatory observation during the analysis phase of the project by volunteers and workers from TECHO. Creation of promotion group with all the agents of the project and community, to plan together the program and the activities. Develop different artistic activities on TECHO’s socio-educational program (educational, capacitive and sustainability). Regular activities with the community, and the support and follow-up by tutors. Common evaluation through promoting group, of the activities developed.

Participant profile

Fluent in Spanish to be able to communicate with the beneficiaries in the communities With experience in working with vulnerable groups or groups in risk of exclusion It is important to have a vocation on social themes and to have interests related to exclusion, human rights vulnerability and motivation to learn about social realities & community art methodologies to work on empowerment It is valued to have knowledge in socio-educational field and non-formal education skills Be interested in developing artistic & community skills, working with excluded communities to empower their identity
