Activity description

The "Schule an der Deichbrücke" is a state-recognized education institution for children with disabilities. The focus of the daily work is to prepare the 112 pupils for their future life. The pupils complete their compulsory schooling of 12 years in small groups. This enables focus on the individual promotion of personal strengths and competences as well as a practical school education. In the final grades, the young people are becoming prepared for professional life as well as independent living and housing. The staff takes focus on strengths instead of shortcomings to achieve individual goals. You're accompanying the professionals in the organization of the lessons or the individual support measures. You're assisting the pupils in dressing, taking in food and drink and supporting them in acquiring competences. Your tasks include preparing the group room and the preparation of meals. You're involved in organizing projects and will take part in excursions and class trips.
