Suporting in a Rural Area

Activity description

The Council of Fromista is a public Administration that is at the service of everyone. Frómista is a small town that works in favor of rural development in order to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and the region. It tries to promote youth participation carrying out many actions directed at various areas of action as it is free time, training courses, culture, employment, sport, etc. In addition, it approaches different topics, trying to bring Europe closer to Frómista in order to coexist with different cultures and traditions. One is through the European voluntary service and the other one through tourism. Frómista is a very special village, strategically located in the middle of the Road to Santiago. The tasks of the volunteer will be focused in the Tourist Office, in the Culture House that is a Library and a Cibercenter. He/she also will carry out a group activity in the Old People’s Home and in the Summer School during the Summer.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

He/she will live in a house with 2 other volunteers. He/she will have a single room with all facilities. Sharing the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Is not necessary to bring household items. He/she also will have free Internet in his home. The volunteer will receive, at the end of each month 350 € as maintenance expenses and pocket money. The Council will pay the travel expenses of the volunteer. In the village is not necessary to take any transport. The city is not so far , only 30 km and it is well communicated by train and bus.

Training during the activity

The project will be carried out, in general character, 5 days a week in the morning and in the afternoon (from Monday till Friday, including the linguistic formation). The volunteer will have Spanish Class during the firsts months (it depends on their level) with a personal teacher, he/she also will have linguistic formation with the online course OLS during their activity. He/she will learn a program about the Library Absysnet CYL. And skills to work in the tourism, culture, etc . He/she will learn new skills in order to improve their knowledge and life.

Participant profile

We prefer volunteers who are very motivated for living in a rural area. They will help in different areas for this reason if they have skills to work with children or old people is much better.But not necesary. If they speak Spanish or English their adaptation will be faster.
