Activity description

CHECK INFOPACK www.logo.at/esc -> Padlet | APPLY THROUGH AN ONLINE FORM: https://formfacade.com/sm/8vrKzkLxT | School in Pfeifferhof - Schule im Pfeifferhof (SiP) was initiated by parents for their children. 8 teachers are responsible for education of 85 children. The school works according to reform-pedagogical principles (Montessori, Piaget), so the work is oriented at the needs and wishes of children. Learning methods are based on practical work and projects: “Learning by doing” means that we prepare a surrounding which enables children to make their own experiences, acquire cultural techniques and develop social competences. Also, they handle rules and borders in a democratic way. It is part of our philosophy to practice an intercultural exchange. Two volunteers assist teacher during lessons and in the afternoon care. They enrich the school environment and are able to develop their own projects.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Two volunteers will live in an apartment and have their own rooms. We will provide a ticket for the use of public transport in Graz. The volunteers will receive breakfast and a snack at school from Monday to Friday, and lunch from Monday to Thursday. Additionally, the volunteers will receive a monthly allowance for food. Pocket money is 7Eur/day.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will participate in On-Arrival Training and Mid-term meetings organized by the National Agency. They will have the opportunity to take part in a German course and use the Online Language Support Tool. The school provides task-related support, supervision, and guidance through experienced staff. There will be a weekly meeting between the volunteer and the teachers of the group the volunteer is working with. This is to ensure that all parties can coordinate their activities for the pupils. The volunteer is also invited to attend a staff meeting once a week.
