Rural Art Summer: Creating cultural events in a rural community

Activity description

ON&OFF, a non-profit organisation fostering rural development, sustainability, arts, and social inclusion via theatre, invites you to Camprovín (La Rioja) for a 1.5-month journey! We're looking for 10 volunteers to help us create a culturally enriched summer with artistic workshops, interventions and events. Highlights of this summer will be helping in the realization of Camprovinarte, an annual street art festival that brings together visual artists from all over the world, and the local festivities of Camprovín. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Town Hall in organising cultural and leisure activities. As one of our key missions is the creation of an inclusive environment, this project will include at least two volunteers with a mental disability. We welcome participants who are supportive and share our value of accepting individuals with all kinds of abilities. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will work and live in Camprovín, a beautiful village with 182 inhabitants. It's a magical place with a strong local community, stunning landscapes and tons of possibilities for outdoor activities.But life here is also very remote: there are no regular shops, but different mobile vendors who come a few times a week.You will live in a shared apartment with a fully equipped kitchen/common area, shared rooms and a big garden.There is an on-demand bus and a carpooling group. We offer monthly pocket money for each volunteer. Food will be provided by us and prepared in alternating cooking teams.

Training during the activity

We will train our team of volunteers for the tasks needed.

Participant profile

We are looking for open-minded people interested in arts,culture and theatre, who ideally already have experience in some field of arts and bring digital skills such as recording, editing photos and videos, graphic design for poster creation… As one of our missions is to bring life to rural areas, we need you to support us in this and to embrace rural living with all its ups and downsides! Our volunteers shall embrace equality and respect for diversity in all of its forms. Spanish is not compulsory, but we want you to be aware of the fact that many of our activities are in Spanish.
