Youth Bank in Valmiera, Latvia-activities with youth, photo and video

Activity description

There are two working directions: assistance in youth work in Valmiera regional community foundation, and shooting/editing photos and videos of events – youth and other charity events of our foundation. Firstly, Youth Bank is a place where young people learn values of civic society such as charity and participation through self-engaging activities. Youth group together with a youth mentor is to carry out various fund raising activities which later will be given for youth proposed community initiatives. You expand your capabilities to understand and be involved in charity. Volunteer would also work on making representation video stories about community projects that young people and VNF fund, as well as create promotional clips, online banners and posters, also for print. Volunteer will work in collaboration with other young people and foundation's employees. Self-organising skills and creative ideas are important to have. Communication language in the office: English and Latvian.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation provided in rental appartments together with other volunteers, 2 same gender persons per room. Food money provided for meals or cooking. Bikes are available for volunteers and is good way to commute in dry season (April-October). Valmiera town is not too big and previous volunteers have never used public transport, but city buses are available and paid for, if needed.

Training during the activity

*On-arrival and mid-term training will be organized by National Agency in Latvia. *Online and in-person Latvian language lessons will be provided by coordinating organization.

Participant profile

20-30 years. You should be enthusiastic and creative to work with youth and media, meanwhile being self-organized and responsible to come up with your own activities and take leadership on them.
