Junta de Freguesia de Carnide (JFC), as the lowest tier of local government, is in charge of managing its territory and urban planning, managing its budget, services to the population and own human resources, as well as relations with other local partners. In its competences it is included the support to activities which are considered as of interest for the local community of social, cultural, educational, sportive, recreational or other nature. It is entitled also to discuss and decide about ways of supporting entities and organizations with the aim of realizing necessary works or events, as well as with the purpose of informing and promoting citizen’s rights.
All the work developed in the parish area reflects the logic of implementation of inter-institutional and inter-disciplinary projects with a strong focus on the social component. The main priority of JFC is the social area, namely the Youth, Education, Culture, Sports, Social Action, and Elder’s Departments.
JFC works in several different areas, such as: Participative Management, Public Space, Green Spaces, Social Housing, Urban Rehabilitation, Communitarian Development, Education, Sport, Youth, Health, Finances, Urban Hygiene, Environmental Protection, Tourism, Social Action, Safety, etc. All these areas have constant activities being developed.
The own nature of JFC being a public institution, implies working with several different target groups and responding to the needs ofthe community as a whole.
