Network for Children’s Rights is a Greek non-profit association founded in 2004, with the aim of defending the rights of the child, as defined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNDP 1989. Through its programs, it not only gives access to non-formal education programs to vulnerable children to acquire skills and access to the arts but also gives them a platform to express their opinion while through awareness and advocacy it aims to defend the rights of the child.
The work is based on 5 pillars:
1. Support and empowerment of children, teenagers and young people in 2 main spaces: Culture Lab (6 to 12 years old) & Youth Center (teens and young people).
2. Educational programs in schools throughout Greece, of all levels (Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle School, High School) on topics such as: child rights/human rights, environment, democratic and European values, social issues, etc.
3. Training teachers, professionals and parents in tools and methodologies in order to support and protect children and cultivate respect for their rights.
4. Protection and integration of unaccompanied minors. It is the main partner of the National Mechanism for the Identification and Protection of Unaccompanied Children in Precarious Conditions. This program received the second European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA)
5. Advocacy for the child and the implementation of their rights.
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
