Intergenerational and Volunteer Center TOTEM, z.s is a non-governmental organization founded in Pilsen in 1999 and working in the social sphere. The mission of the organization is to create positive and functional interpersonal relationships within the family and also within the wider context of civic society. TOTEM provides social-stimulation services, stimulation programs and others, particularly voluntary projects that aim to our long-term goals.
Long-term goals and lines of activity are:
• Promotion and dissemination of the idea of voluntary assistance and development of voluntary work,
• Providing social-stimulation and educational activities for seniors in order to keep their mental and physical health and postpone the time when they are fully dependent on the help of others,
• Prevention to address threat to child and youth development, help children and youth to deal with difficult situations in their lives and mitigate the impact of these situations on a child's life,
• Intergenerational projects to create healthy and natural environment for social coexistence of all generations.
Intergenerational and Volunteer Center TOTEM:
• Has professional team of employees and amazing supporting team of volunteers,
• Has experience in implementing projects funded by ESF (investment including) and with projects with European partners,
• works with social, educational or medical organizations in the Czech Republic and abroad,
• has commercial businesses, non-governmental organizations, public authorities,
• since 2003 is accredited by Ministry of the interior of the Czech Republic for sending volunteers
• since 2010 has mandate for social and legal protection of children
• since 2012 accredited by Ministry of the interior of the Czech Republic for the project Mentoring programs to support families and children at risk of threat to development and social inclusion,
• since 2001 accredited for European Voluntary Service,
• has since 2007 registration of provider of social services under Act No. 108/2006 Coll.
• Is founding member of the project Zeitbank 55+,
• is a member of the Association of social service providers, Association Five P, Coalition for volunteer initiatives, Regional council of seniors, Association of NGOs in Pilsen region
• since 2014 is a member of the Government council for seniors and Ageing for the period 2014- 2017,
• in 2014 won the award for the quality of the Czech Republic for application of Age Management in project called TOTEM - House across generations.
• Since spring 2018 TOTEM has 2 new branches in different districts of Pilsen counting with future spreading to other districts with the support of city of Pilsen.
