Das Haus am Maiberg ist die Akademie für politische und soziale Bildung der Diözese Mainz. Es führt Seminare, Tagungen und internationale Begegnungen durch und versteht sich dabei als Ort des Dialogs über gesellschaftliche und politische Fragen. Das Bildungsangebot des Hauses richtet sich – entsprechend seinem Motto „Offen für Dialog“ – an alle Interessierte, unabhängig von ihrer politischen, weltanschaulichen, religiösen und kulturellen Zugehörigkeit. Im Sinne dieser dialogischen Grundausrichtung wird die Mehrheit der Veranstaltungen in Kooperation mit nationalen und internationalen Partnerorganisationen durchgeführt. Unsere Schwerpunkte sind die Themen „Arbeit“, „Europa“ und „Partizipation“. Arbeit ist eine zentrale Quelle der persönlichen und gesellschaftlichen Identität des Menschen. Europa ist zu einem der wichtigsten politischen Bezugspunkte der modernen Gesellschaften geworden. Ohne Teilhabe gelingt keine demokratische Gesellschaftsordnung. Aus aktuellen politischen Debatten haben sich Diversitätsbewusstsein, Geschlechtergerechtigkeit (Gender-Mainstreaming) und der Dialog der Generationen im Haus am Maiberg sowohl zu wichtigen Themen als auch zu grundlegenden Prinzipien einer nachhaltigen und zukunftsorientierten Bildungspraxis entwickelt. Sie bedient sich
partizipativer, prozessorientierter, selbstorganisierter und weiterer vielfältiger Lernformen im Kontext von non-formaler Bildung. Das Haus am Maiberg fördert mit seiner Bildungsarbeit Schlüsselqualifikationen und soziale Kompetenzen seiner Seminar- und Projektteilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer.

Haus am Maiberg is the academy for political and social education of the Diocese of Mainz. It conducts seminars, conferences and international encounters and sees itself as a place of dialogue about social and political issues. The educational program of Haus am Maiberg is open to all those interested regardless of their political, ideological, religious or cultural affiliation. Here we follow our official motto “Open for Dialogue”. A majority of our events take place in cooperation with national and international partner organizations. Our focus is on the subjects of “work”, “Europe” and “participation”. Work is a key source of personal and social identity of people. Europe has become one of the most important political reference points of modern societies. Without participation, no democratic process can succeed. Current political debates have resulted in more awareness of diversity and gender equality (Gender mainstreaming) in Haus am Maiberg both as important topics and as basic principles of our sustainable and future-oriented educational practice. In our educational program, we avail ourselves of participatory, process-oriented and self-organized forms of learning in the context of non-formal education. With our educational work, Haus am Maiberg promotes key qualifications and social skills among the participants of its seminars and projects.
