"IL PORTICO" is a social promotion association founded in 1985 and active in the field of inclusion and social solidarity; combines immediate help for people in difficulty with the aim of removing the causes of discomfort and marginalization. Main areas of activity:
1 leisure time animation for people with different kinds of fragilty and with a prevalence of mental and psychological distress associated with situations of marginalization of various kinds. The "free time" often represents the most critical moment of the day for these people, the moment in which loneliness and marginalization are perceived. The volunteers made themselves available to listen and animate various activities through weekdays, holidays and periodic meetings to accompany and support individuals and their families. Training and debate moments are organized, as well as entertainment, cultural or sports meetings on a weekly basis; stays and trips; courses and workshops (artistic, culinary, sewing, maintenance and more). A theater group made up mainly of people with disabilities is active and realizes shows on issues of civil commitment;
2 Temporary hospitality for people in difficulty. The association manages two reception facilities, the "Casa di Ennio" and the "Casa di Mario", which welcome people with different situations of hardship in order to guide them to autonomy according to individualized social reintegration projects. The association also hosts in daytime access other people in situations of marginalization and adolescent minors in a trial regime, educational accompaniment services in an industrious and socializing context.
3 development of a culture of integration and social justice. The association builds targeted projects that concern different sectors of intervention (construction of the operational network, identification of social emergencies, social animation, educational critical issues, personalized psychological assistance, promotion of civil rights against various social discrimination, apprenticeships and internships aimed at the care of person) and different target groups (young people, disabled people, people in a state of discomfort of a social, economic, housing nature, subjects in a trial regime). The planning is developed on a local, national and European level. In particular, resources and commitment are dedicated to promoting solidarity, the value of volunteering and active citizenship.

equal opportunities;
youth volunteering;
social inclusion for people in the external criminal area, with particular attention to minors / young people;
social inclusion for people in a serious state of marginalization; projects for the provision of integrated reception, support and empowerment services;
social inclusion of asylum seekers and migrants housed in local structures;
family-work reconciliation (obtaining a family-audit certification in due course);
national and international training on: voluntary work, associations, human rights, European planning, planning in the field of social policies.
"IL PORTICO" is located in a villa that the owner, a person with disabilities, donated to Caritas of Padua, binding the usufruct to the association that followed him until his death. The structure allows: meeting spaces (rooms, small bar, large garden on the canal) for members and the territory, rehearsal and recording room and used by the musical groups of the area.
“Il Portico” collaborates with many local realities, both local and branches of national associations (Legambiente, Libera, Emergency, MOVI, etc ...). More intensely with the "CATARSI" association born from a group of adolescent volunteers and young adults who are committed to aggregating their peers in activities of social integration, environment, human rights, artistic and strong generational appeal. The “Jardin de los Ninos” association, born in Dolo but which has been based in Noventa Padovana for many years, is committed to the protection of civil rights and in the field of international cooperation. The Arino Solidale cooperative in Arino promotes fair trade, runs a shop and carries out training projects. "Casa della Speranza Santa Caterina da Siena", in Arino, committed to welcoming, training and starting work for young homeless immigrants.
In January 2019 Il Portico set up a territorial network of entities, of which it is the leader, registered in the Universal Civil Service Register which employs 24 young people and plans to double the offer by involving a greater number of institutional and non-institutional entities. Many of these entities are Municipalities that invest in building a relationship with young people, in their leadership towards the local territory and in civic education inspired by the values of the Italian Constitution, nonviolence and active citizenship.
