description of organisation

Our association was founded in 2001 with the aim to support informal youth groups as Student Self-Governments in financial, professional and juridical background as well as taking the role on the field of youth policy. The target group of the Centre Youth Association are people aged between 10 and 30. Those people who would like to do something to their community. We provide space and opportunity for them to become active members of the society.
Those who are working in our association accept as common value openness, creativity, and trust toward each other. In our community we realize these values through help, support and team work. We provide support for informal youth groups in the framework of the Association. We also consider as our goal to empower young people and to operate a network of volunteers in the Northern Great Plain region. Those young people who get in touch with us can have get experiences that can be determining factors in their lives.
Currently our Association operates in four different cities: Debrecen, Szolnok, Nyíregyháza and Karcag.
We actively take part in youth policy of the region, and continuously looking after connections with several youth governments, NGOs, elementary and high schools. We have strong partnerships with animal shelters, Institutions with disabled and disadvantaged people, orphanages and other social institutes.
We also offer the youth living near our office an alternative way of spending their spare time in Nyíregyháza at Közösségi Face-ek Youth Office and Community Space (located in Nyíregháza Bocskai street 25.), in Debrecen at KÖZ-Pont Youth Office and Community Space (located in Debrecen Plaza at Péterfia street 18. (Debrecen Plaza first floor)) and at Színtér Youth Office and Community Space (located in Szolnok Plaza at Ady Endre street 28/A (Szolnok Plaza 1st floor)). Also young people living in Karcag can work with us, because we have a space where our youngsters can hold meetings and events in Déryné Cultural Center at Dózsa György street 5-7..
We are working in Debrecen for more than 18 years now, we started to work with the Student-Self Government of the city and that is how we have connections in local schools and started to work on county level with the Student Self-Governments of the schools . As we have been working with local governments, institutions in Debrecen we got invitations to different events, conferences and meetings. The association after a few years opened its first office in Debrecen and in a few years coming also in Nyíregyháza, thus we believe in regional youth work, so we decided that we would need an office to also have a base of operations in Szolnok, so we can manage more easily our contacts, and help the youth of that part of the region as well.
In Debrecen, Nyíregyháza and Szolnok we have maintained and created connections with local schools and Universities, we are helping schools in the School Community Service, providing youngsters to spend their Community Services at our social institute partners, like Red Cross, Animal Shelter etc. We are organizing for them events about School Community Service and volunteering like the School Community Service fair. Yearly we organize a family day for disabled and non-disabled person called Run in the Light, where youngsters together can meet, play, do sports and create bonds. In Karcag for more then two years now we have started working with the local government and we take part in forming the youth of the city by helping the Student Self-Government of the city of Karcag to organize events, to represent their peers and to not just work in local also in regional level..
