Our “Maryam” center is situated in Baku,in the capital of Azerbaijan. Educational center was founded by Catholic Church. The main goal is to increase the chance of getting a quality education for poor children and youth to help them get better chance of finding a job.
There are 6 sections in Maryam Center :
1. Foreign languages (English, Russian, Italian etc.)
2. Computer programs (Office programs, design programs, etc.)
3. Helping for school subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Geography etc.)
4. Professional courses (Electrician, plumber, carpet weaving, welding etc.)
5. Personal developing trainings (Time management, Basic accounting, Healthy etc.)
6. Free time activities (Cultural, sport, entertainment activities)
These courses are necessary for admission to college or to find employment. Our center with help of young animators organizes various leisure activities for poor children: camps during holidays, various hobby groups throughout the year - guitar courses, concerts, preparation of cultural events to celebrate major holidays. Organizing staff is consisted from director and 3 coordinators.
The main group of our teachers (25 persons) contains young people aged 20-30 years.
400 students are studying here. They are divided into three groups:
1. 5-8 age
2. 8-17 age
3. up to 18 age
Inclusion topics
This organisation is willing to involve volunteers who face situations which make their participation in activities more difficult, from the following categories for different types of project:
- Cultural differences
- Educational difficulties
- Social obstacles
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
