description of organisation

ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V. (ASC 46) is the biggest sports club in Lower Saxony, a federal state of Germany. Nearly 12.000 active members in every age use our numerous offers every week – everything in the context of sport and community. We have 29 different sport codes, five kindergartens with focus on movement, eight after school programs and special offers for every age, fitness and wellness.
The ASC 46 is very experienced in coordinating different voluntary services on national and international levels. The team for international voluntary services of ASC 46 sends and receives volunteers from different parts of the globe for more than a decade. With being part of ASC 46-Family the volunteers can expect an exciting experience in a modern sports organisation with movement and intercultural related working fields. Every volunteer gets the chance to bring her/his own talents into our system and grow through challenges an international voluntary service provides: “Great things never came from comfort zones!”

With various engagements of ASC 46 in the field of education of children and the youth it is possible to work hand in hand with educators from Germany but also from abroad. There are two main facts about our work. On one hand we are a really sportive institution. Furthermore we work with immersion as a principle. This means that we speak two languages within our team - German and English. The volunteer must choose between one of the two languages and stick to it while working with children and colleagues. One of the locations to host volunteers is the "Kinderbewegungshaus" (KBH). The KBH is a kindergarten for children between one and six years. The kids of KBH are also from an international background hence the population of Göttingen is quite international as well.
The work takes place from Monday to Friday and is focused on one of the groups at KBH. In each group we have around 12-15 kids and three to four colleagues. Next to the general assistance of colleagues it is expected from the volunteer to bring in own ideas and develop smaller and bigger projects within the time. A qualified and experienced team of mentors/supervisors are there to support you in all matters and questions. Almost everything is possible: arts, music, crafting and for sure: sports! One focus of your work should be the intercultural work with the children. It is a benefit for us that you come from an European neighbour country and bring own ideas, habits and a personality to our location. Please make sure that you share your experience and questions with the children and your colleagues.

ASC 46 and the town of Göttingen will offer you the chance to explore a modern sports organisation that takes responsibility of society and you can be part of it. As a volunteer of ASC 46 you are part of a big family of volunteers from different continents and will learn to interact with cultures on a professional and private level.
If you bring a great motivation to be active in sports and the field of education of children, you are open minded and want to grow through the challenge of a voluntary service in sports? Then you should apply for a European Solidarity Corps-Service with ASC 46!
