Description of organisation
Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team-work, a company work, a society work, a civilization
work. We enjoy putting people into situations where they have to communicate, cooperate and communicate some more
by providing a safe, challenging and flexible environment for them to learn, often outdoors, which we use as a tool for
personal development. We are not afraid of putting cold, height, water or fire in use.
Adventure Spirit (Piedzīvojuma Gars - PG) is a non-profit non-governmental organization of adventure seekers that work
on educating young people through outdoor activities. The target group we work with comes from very diverse social
groups - pupils aged 12-18, young leaders, people with fewer opportunities and disabilities, companies, employers and
employees, parents and teachers. Whenever we work with a group, we keep our focus on that everyone is included, limitations
exist only in our heads. We organize both summer and winter camps, go on hikes and expeditions to unknown places,
experiment with different non-formal methods (such as rope-jumping, glass walking and diving ice-holes). We also do
leadership trainings where youngsters learn how to set up their aims, overcome their fears, efficiently work in a team,
manage conflicts and build a good atmosphere in the group. We celebrate our 10 year anniversary as NGO in 2021 thus
we have full 10 years of experience in non-formal and outdoor education. The founders of PG has more than 10 years of
experience in developing and implementing outdoor activities both for learning and enjoyment. We have been hosting
EVS projects for the last couple of years now. We practice learning by doing and constantly try to improve ourselves and
the activities we offer to the volunteers depending on their skills and learning needs.
As an important milestone In 2021 organization grew to 300+ members in various Latvian regions and thus became one of the few national level youth organizations in Latvia.
