The Danish folk colleges (Folkehøjskole) are a unique concept and part of the non-formal educational system in Denmark. The students are primarily young adults who stay at the college during the course. Classes are based on dialogue and mutual learning between teachers and students. A stay at a folk college is very much about intercultural awareness and personal growth.

The Vestjylland Folk College (Vestjyllands Højskole) is a place for young people with open minds and who are curious about life, with room for all kind of personalitys, ideas and visions. and with plenty of opportunity to develop personal as well as professional. It is a cultural power plant, situated in the mid-west of Jutland close to Ringkøbing (a city of approx. 10.000 inhabitants).

The main subjects are dancing, music, singing, art with ceramics, graphical design and painting, theatre, sustainable lifestyle/permaculture, cooking and writing. Students can choose to dig into one of our main subjects or create their own scedule with a broader cultural contents.

The school considers itself the green folk folk college of Denmark! All meals are 90-100% organics, its wind turbine supplies the school with C02 neutral energy together with our solar- and geothermal system. Our "Garden of Wonder" provides ecological vegetable and fruit to the kitchen and generally inspires both the college and the local environment with new thoughts on sustainability.

The teachers are all active professionels within their subject and they have a passionate for their subject and teaching in generel. Most of the teachers live nearby the school and together with their families they are using the school as their second home, which gives a very homely atmosphere.

The school has room for 85 students and the number of employees is 30, including 15 teachers.
