Better World Foundation (BWNGO) is a role model grass-root organization Founded in Egypt, initiated a Sustainable Innovative Development Model to integrate education and training to reduce unemployment in Egypt and incubate social entrepreneurs. After the success during the past 9 years, BWNGO aims to prepare the Egyptian youth to succeed in the modern professional world through offering various educational/training Skills (Languages-Computer-Life Skills-Knowledge-Attitude).In addition to offering research opportunities on social entrepreneurship to create job opportunities for unemployed youth and equip hundreds of young underprivileged Egyptians with business and entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed, and revitalize Egypt’s economy and community then replicate the model to the world in large.
BWNGO contributes to fix the unemployment problem in Egypt through five main integrated programs that start from capacity building to establishing social enterprises. A beneficiary will normally start with basic training program that includes a set of language, computer and SKAs courses to match them with the job market needs. After this, he/she can either get hired or BWNGO encourages them to join one of the three research programs (environmental, Social, and Economic) to practically apply what he/she learnt then critically think of a project ideas that can be incubated by BWNGO as Social Enterprise. Such sequence of Better World's Sustainable Development Model had helped the organization to maximize its impact beyond the individual into the community at large, an impact that is sustained by the trainee rather than the organization alone. This integrated initiative is called “The Path to Your Career” – PYC.
Youth constitutes about 50% of the overall population in Egypt as per the last World Health Organization and BWNGO focuses to target about 20% of the underprivileged group of the percentage mentioned above. PYC caters on average 900 and 1200 Egyptian youth every year with about 1440 training / monitoring / consulting / serving / social entrepreneurial working hours. Our target group includes males and females whose ages range between 17 and 35 with no restriction on social class, race, nor ethnicity. We are currently having the main hub in Cairo (EGYPT) and planning to expand in remote areas.
Our management team is a group of entrepreneurs because we believe that Entrepreneurs can be the best to help other future Entrepreneurs that is why the management team should be flexible and on a continuous recruitment basis to fill in four main sectors: Idea Incubation Committee, Reach Out Committee, Counseling and Mentoring Committee, and Investing Committee. Our team includes volunteers with an entrepreneurial prospective, youth and a group of professionals including consulting companies, educational institutions.
Planning, researching, Training, coordinating, mentoring, consulting, and incubating are various tasks for members and volunteers to carry out. With a balanced corps of volunteers, of which half are Egyptian and half are international, we have been able to create a better environment for cultural exchange.
BWNGO attended the 2008 Global Engagement Summit in Chicago and was given the title of “Best Development Project for 2008.” In 2010, Better World participated in AEGEE’s EuroArab Youth Exchange. More recently, we were ranked in the top 10 for the King Abdullah II Award for Youth Innovation and Achievement and the organization was recognized at the World Economic Forum in 2012.
