Description of organisation

Caerhys Organic Community Agriculture (COCA) is a community co-operative incorporated as a Company Limited By Guarantee. COCA members grow and share organic food in partnership with local organic farmer at Caerhys Farm. COCA is based on mutual benefit and shared risk. COCA is part of a growing movement called community supported agriculture (CSA). COCA's objectives are as follows:- Produce and enable wider access to local food- Enable members to live well and eat well in an organic and sustainable way- Support sustainable food production in the local area- Grow a community around the project based on shared work, social activity and a spirit of friendship.COCA consists of approximately 50 household members from across the local area. Some members are involved in all aspects of the growing whilst for others it is an opportunity to source locally grown organic food. Members meet on a weekly basis to carry out the weekly harvest and other growing activities whilst there are other regular activities such as monthly volunteer days.
