Description of organisation

At the Young Initiative Association (AYI), our mission is to empower people through education. We do that through 3 main pillars of action: Social, Youth and NGO Development.

We aim at contributing to young people's personal and professional development and to their education, so they can shape a career matched to their true potential. More than 40 volunteers are currently engaged in our activities.

Our focus group are children and young adults, as they are the future leaders of our world and need to have a proper education, a proper status in society and the moral values they need to succeed in life.

Main achievements in 2017:

● Contributing to the public policies from the youth sector an International and European level (1 delegate to the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum, 2 delegates to the EU Youth Strategy Consultation, 1 member of the YMCA Europe - Youth Policy Group);
● Releasing the first White Paper on Youth Homelessness from Romania (and organizing a working group with official representatives and local authorities, NGOS to draft the paper)
● 4 awards received (Special award for Structured Dialogue - National Youth Gala from Romania, Best volunteer in the youth field and Voluntary Project of the year in the field of civic activism and human rights - National Gala for Volunteering, Special award for the contribution brought to the NGO sector - City Hall of Sector 1, Bucharest);
● Organizing the first event outside of Romania (the launch of RePlan board-game in March 2017, Oslo, Norway);
● 3 Strategic Partnerships (KA2 Erasmus+): youth homelessness, tech & youth work, the impact of multi-mobilities;
● More than 500 events hosted in NGO Management Center, 40 NGOs and universities bought RePlan;
● 66 young people were sent in 27 European mobilities, among which 8 were EVS volunteers;
● 6 volunteers hosted in Bucharest on a project focused on civic engagement;
● 74 hours of indoor and outdoor volunteering pursued for the institutionalized children and young people from Bucharest;

  • This organisation is accredited to run projects under Erasmus+ Volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps.
  • This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
