ijgd stands for International Youth Community Services. It's a non-profit organisation working in the field of international youth work and political education. ijgd is one of the oldest workcamp organisations in Germany; it organises more than 100 international workcamps in the fields of nature-conservation, care for children and elderly, anti-racism, culture, restoration of old buildings and heritage etc. ijgd also organises international youth exchange programs in Germany, Europe and overseas.

In our international Workcamps volunteers from all over the world at the age of 16 to 26 years are supporting non-profit projects in cooperation with our local partners. Fields of work are nature protection, social work, youth work and holiday activities for children, construction, art, cultural heritage preservations, festivals, theatre and music and radio projects. We also offer teenage activities for people at the age of 14 to 17.
While ijgd plans, operates and supports all projects, the organization also focuses on preparation/post-processing as well as trainings and seminars for volunteers and youth leaders. The youth leaders, trainers and volunteers are thoroughly prepared and trained by ijgd throughout the year. The trainings and experiences as a leader can also be accepted as an internship for pedagogical studies.


In addition, ijgd is in charge of different long-term voluntary services such as the voluntary social service (FSJ), the voluntary heritage service (FJD), mid-term voluntary services overseas (MTV) and different trainings and seminars for further education. ijgd also take part in the "weltwärts" program. ijgd Hildesheim has been sending and coordinating EVS organization since 2005, also the international youth voluntary service (IJFD) with round about 75 volunteers taking part in the USA, New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland and Austria.
ijgd was founded after World War II. Since 1949, ijgd has been active throughout Germany as an organisation independent from any religious or political party and approved by the state authorities. The aim of ijgd is to forward young people's awareness of social conditions and to support the development of a feeling of social responsibility. The work of ijgd thus includes the promotion of international understanding and the reduction of prejudice between people of different nations, social backgrounds, religions and political ideas.

ijgd steht für Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste. Wir sind ein gemeinnütziger Verein und engagieren uns in den Bereichen Jugendarbeit und politischer Bildung. Die ijgd sind eine der ältesten workcamp-Organisationen und veranstalten mehr als 100 workcamps pro Jahr in den Feldern Naturschutz, Kinder- und Jugendarbeit, Arbeit mit Älteren, Anti-Rassismus, Kultur, Denkmalschutzarbeit uvm. Hinzu kommen internationale Jugendbegegnungen in Deutschland, Europa und Übersee. Darüber hinaus bieten die ijgd unterschiedliche Formate langfristiger Dienste an, z.B. das Freiwillige Soziale Jahr (FSJ), das Freiwillige Jahr in der Denkmalpflege (FJD), mittelfristige Freiwilligendienste international (MTV) und verschiedene Ausbildungen und Seminare in den Bereichen Jugend- und Erwachsenenbildung. ijgd organisiert außerdem noch das Programm weltwärts. Den Europäischen Freiwilligendienst (EVS) bieten ijgd Hildesheim seit 2005 an, zudem den internationalen Jugendfreiwilligendienst (IJFD) mit ungefähr 75 Freiwilligen, die ausreisen in die USA, Neuseeland, Dänemark, Spanien, die Schweiz und Österreich .
Die ijgd gründeten sich nach dem 2. Weltkrieg. Wir sind kirchlich und parteipolitisch unabhängig, deutschlandweit aktiv und stattlich anerkannt. Wir wollen (für und mit Jugendlichen) gesellschaftliche Verhältnisse bewusst machen und soziale Verantwortung übernehmen bzw. Teilnehmende darin unterstützen, sich für die Gesellschaft zu engagieren. Wir setzen uns für Völkerverständigung und den Abbau von Vorurteilen ein (Menschen aus verschiedenen Nationen, unterschiedlicher Herkunft, Religion u.a.).
